SOS Children’s Villages International, Gulf Area signs partnership with Dubai Foundation for Women and Children

SOS Children’s Villages International, Gulf Area Office and the Dubai Foundation for Women and Children (DFWAC) share a common mission of providing protection and support services to women and children in need, in accordance with international human rights obligations. In order to maximize each other’s efforts, the two well established NGOs have now agreed to enter into a strategic partnership.

The purpose of the cooperation is to establish an overall strategic framework for cooperation between SOS Children’s Villages International’s Gulf Area Office and DFWAC in order to exchange and learn from each other’s best practices and positively impact the organisation’s activities within the United Arab Emirates and the Gulf region.

Afra Al Basti, Director General of the Dubai Foundation for Women and Children, commented on the milestone agreement: “We are pleased to work together with SOS Children’s Villages International, and we are hoping that this step will make us able to reach a new benchmark in this field. We believe that supporting women and children causes requires continuous cooperation and coordination between the NGOs across the region especially that the UAE is a role model in empowering women and providing support services for children.
Commenting on the cooperation Ms Nicole Nassar, Managing Director of the Gulf Area Office, said “The challenges faced by the world’s children are too big for any single organization to address alone. This partnership is evidence that we reach more vulnerable children by joining hands”.
The organisations vow to promote each other’s projects and programmes on child protection and care as well as prevention of domestic violence.
