UAE Embassy in Vienna supports SOS Children’s Village

UAE Ambassador to Austria H.E. Hamad Alkaabi, visited the SOS children’s village in Hinterbuehl, Austria. After a guided tour of the village, he met with the chief of the Village and discussed UAE government interest and efforts in the humanitarian work.

The visit comes in line with UAE Government initiatives to support societies and those who are less privileged. Ambassador Alkaabi announced during the visit a donation to support the reconstruction of the village’s sport hall.
The Ambassador met the children at the village and participated in a reading event, organized by the UAE Embassy, where he read out a short story to the children and listened children presenting their favorite stories.

“It is an honor to have His Excellency, Ambassador Alkaabi, with us today and we are thankful for the support of the UAE Embassy”, said Alexander Mairginter, Fundraiser of SOS children’s village, “the read out in Arabic by Ambassador to the children was a chance to foster the intercultural dialogue and I saw the happiness of the children.”
Ambassador pointed out the importance of humanitarian and charity work. “I am impressed by the work of the SOS children’s village and their successful approach. UAE supports such noble efforts, that provides hope and well being for neglected children from various regions.”




This visit from UAE Embassy in Vienna comes in line of the “Year of Giving” initiative, which has been declared by UAE’s President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.


SOS Children's Villages International is the global federation of 117 national SOS Children's Villages associations. The Organization, founded in Austria in 1949, is a global federation working to prevent family breakdown and protect and care for children who have lost parental care, or who risk losing it. The SOS Children’s Village Hinterbrühl is close to Vienna and is one of the biggest in Europe, with about 100 children from Austria, and children with refugee status, are living there.
