Al Tamimi & Company and SOS Children’s Villages mark World Children’s Day with MOU to strengthen partnership for children

Dubai, UAE, 9 November, 2022 – Al Tamimi & Company, the leading law firm in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), and SOS Children’s Villages, the world’s largest non-governmental organization focused on supporting children without parental care and families at risk have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to strengthen their partnership towards a greater impact in MENA.

Harry Goodall, Director, SOS Children’s Villages International, Gulf Area Office with Mohammed Kawasmi, Partner, Al Tamimi & Company

“This November 20 marks 68 years since the United Nations established Children’s Day in 1954,” said Harry Goodall, Director of the Gulf Area Office. “All children have equal rights to care and protection, to live a healthy life free from abuse and harm, and to receive a quality education. Yet 1 in 10 children and young people around the world are separated from their families, abandoned, neglected or forced to live in an abusive environment. They are growing up without strong bonds and the support they need for their future, the effects of which can last a lifetime. The COVID-19 pandemic further exacerbated the situation with more than 5.2 million children being orphaned or losing a caregiver due to the virus. SOS Children’s Villages defends and promotes these rights for all children with the support of partners such as Al Tamimi & Company.”

Commenting on the partnership, Mohammed Kawasmi, Partner at Al Tamimi & Company, and a member of the firm’s CSR Committee said:

“The strategic partnership is focused on child rights and protection, and helping at-risk children and families across MENA build sustainable futures. This collaboration builds on Al Tamimi & Company's “Children of Tomorrow” corporate social responsibility commitment, which focuses on creating awareness on existing laws governing the welfare and rights of children. We look forward to continue supporting SOS Children's Villages programmes and working together to create a better future for children”.
