6 aldeas para 2006 at the Argentina World Cup Team Gala
06/06/2006 - 6 villages for 2006 was presented at a gala for Argentina's World Cup football squad this week - an evening in which Argentina's players, German and Argentine politicians, and other celebrities and media representatives met at the picturesque Thurn castle to celebrate many years of friendship between the two countries.
Argentine and German dancing and singing performances formed part of the festivities, both in the gardens and in the main party room of the Thurn castle in Heroldsbach, near Nuremberg, as did German and Argentine food specialities.
All members of the Argentine football squad attended the event, and visibly enjoyed the festivities. The players, led by team captain Juan Pablo Sorin, also delighted guests by singing their official team song.
6 aldeas para 2006, the Spanish-language version of the fundraising project between FIFA and SOS Children's Villages, which is the official charity campaign of the 2006 FIFA World CupTM, also received recognition at this event.
A big banner with the campaign logo 6 aldeas para 2006 formed the backdrop of an outdoor stage in the gardens of the Thurn castle. Professional Argentine and German performers delivered various performances on this stage, including typical Argentine Gaucho dancing, while guests were also reminded of the importance of helping children in need.
Mr. Julio Grondona, President of the Argentine Football Federation (AFA) and Vice-President of FIFA, pledged his full support for 6 villages for 2006, and said his team would be donating four official team shirts with the autographs of all players to the charity campaign for auctioning.
