General Assembly of SOS Children's Villages International

20/06/2012 - Delegates from over 130 countries are choosing a new President – Helmut Kutin hands over to the next generation after 27 years as global leader of SOS Children's Villages.

The 19th Ordinary General Assembly of SOS Children's Villages takes place in Innsbruck, Austria, at the Congress Centre from 21-23 June 2012.  The General Assembly is held every four years. The main topic on this occasion is the departure of the President, Helmut Kutin, after 27 years at the head of the umbrella organisation and the election of his successor. Alongside these important changes in personnel, the course for the next four years will be mapped out, aims established, programmes adopted, and other committees elected.

We expect 350 delegates from 133 countries to attend the General Assembly. Guests of honour at the official opening ceremony include the Austrian Foreign Minister and Vice-Chancellor, Michael Spindelegger, Princess Salimah Aga Khan, Special Ambassador for SOS Children's Villages International, Provincial Governor of Tyrol, Günther Platter, and Christine Oppitz-Plörer, the Mayor of Innsbruck.
