The children of the SOS Children’s Village in Hinterbrühl, Austria, received an unusual visit recently: The Briton Guy White and his Dutch teammate Arnout Schepers took a short break from the “Adventurists Mongol Rally” to hand over the 101st Chevrolet to the village as part of the cooperation between their team sponsor and SOS Children’s Villages. They also collected messages and small gifts from the village’s children to present to the children in SOS Children’s Villages in Mongolia, the rally’s final destination.
The “Adventurists’ Mongol Rally” set off from Goodwood in the UK on 14 Juli and is scheduled to end on 16 August in Ulan Bator. The team will drive their Chevrolet Aveo through a total of 15 countries - for the adventure of course, but more importantly to draw attention to the cause of SOS Children’s Villages.
Managing director of Chevrolet Austria Rainer Fillitz took the occasion to continue the celebration of Chevrolet’s 100th birthday and officially handed the 101st Chevrolet over to the children of the SOS Children’s Village. Chevrolet number 102, the Mongol Rally Team’s actual car, will be given to the children of the SOS Children’s Village in Mongolia.
“We hope our cars contribute to improving the lives of the children at SOS Children’s Villages and the people who care for them. We are proud to support an independent organisation like SOS Children’s Villages in their work”, Fillitz said.
