Opera singer Anna Netrebko is ambassador for SOS Children's Villages Austria
16/3/2007 - The famous opera singer Anna Netrebko has decided to make a global commitment to SOS Children's Villages and is now a sponsor for SOS Children's Village Tomilino in Russia. To mark this occasion, on 15 March she visited SOS Children's Village Wienerwald in Hinterbrühl which is in Lower Austria, where she was able to learn about the work of SOS Children's Villages on the spot.
Under a large plane tree next to the community house, the children were able to get to know the opera star in person. Many of them used the opportunity to get her autograph.
Wilfried Vyslozil, Managing Director of SOS Children's Villages Austria, thanked Anna Netrebko for her commitment as SOS ambassador to protect childhood and the children gave "their" ambassador a friendship bracelet as a sign of their bond.
"I am very proud to be part of the family of SOS Children's Villages"
"I have decided to support SOS Children's Villages because I think that an organisation such as that, which is so focused on supporting children in need, deserves all out support. I am very moved to see that children from difficult backgrounds across the world are offered a good home and a family. I also think that this wonderful alternative to orphanages gives children the opportunity not just to receive material support, but also to receive emotional support and an education, which is immensely important for their prospects for the future", said Anna Netrebko on her involvement. She added: "I am very proud to be part of the family of SOS Children's Villages."
