SOS Children’s Villages Gulf praises Mohammed bin Rashid Initiatives

Following the recent announcement of the Mohammed bin Rashid Global Initiatives by His Highness Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, SOS Children’s Villages International Gulf Area Office steps forward to praise and congratulate on the initiative that includes fighting poverty and disease, spreading knowledge, empowering communities, and future innovation. 


Nicole Nassar, Managing Director of the Gulf Area Office, stated “Enabling people to build a future, as stated by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, is at the core of human development. Our mission is to contribute to this noble aim by specifically supporting children in need. Children are the future of this region. We would like to humbly commend His Highness on his wisdom, foresight and leadership in this immense initiative.”
SOS Children’s Villages was established in 1949, and opened its first SOS Village in the Middle East, in Palestine, in 1968.  Today SOS Children’s Villages exists in 25 locations across 9 countries in the Middle East and North Africa including: Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, Syria, Egypt, Sudan, Algeria, Tunisia, and Morocco. Its Gulf Area Office was launched in November 2014.


SOS Children’s Villages protect orphaned children, children without parents or at risk of losing parental care, provide quality care, holistic support for a healthy child development, love and hope.  This also includes SOS Emergency programmes in Gaza (Palestine), Syria and the Ebola affected countries.


Globally, SOS Children’s Villages runs more than 2,400 programmes that cater to 2.2 million children and adults in 134 countries and territories. This is achieved through cooperation involving communities, authorities and various partners.
